Multiple Choice

Multiple Choice questions offer the following options:

Property Name

Property Description

Question Name*

The name of the survey question. This name doesn't appear when participants complete the survey. It appears in reports and when answers are downloaded in PDF format.

Question Text*

The text of the question.

Variable

A variable name to use when exporting the data for this question. If no variable name is specified, the question name is used when exporting data.

Mandatory

Indicates if this question is mandatory and must be completed by participants.

Conditions

The conditions that make this question mandatory. The question will be mandatory only for participants whose answers meet the specified conditions.

Hidden

Indicates if this question is hidden when participants complete the survey. Instead of deleting a question and loosing it's data associated, you can hide it.

Grouped

Indicates if this question is grouped on the same page with the proceeding question(s).

Participant Comments

Indicates if participants can provide comments in a comments box that appears below the question. Enable this option if you have an "Other" option and you want participants to be able to provide details.

Comments Label

The label to display above the comments box if comments are enabled.

Max. Length

The maximum number of characters that can be entered in the comments field.

Single Line

Indicates if a simple text field or multiline text field is displayed.

Timeout

The maximum number of seconds a participant has to complete the question. Once the timeout has expired, the participant will no longer be able to complete the question.

Disable Previous

Indicates if the "Previous" button is disabled. When activated, once a participant reaches this question in the survey, they can no longer use the previous button to change answers to previous questions.

Require on Invite

Indicates if the answer to this question must be provided when you invite participants using the invitation wizard.

Write Once

Indicates if the answer to this question becomes read only and cannot be changed once the participant clicks the "Next" button.

Show Answer Identifiers

Indicates if the short identifiers (ex. A, B, C, or 1, 2, 3, etc.) of the question should be shown to the participants.

Minimum Required Choices

The minimum number of choices the participant must select.

Maximum Choices

The maximum number of choices the participant may select.

Sort Answers

Indicates if the answers are sorted alphabetically when presented to the participants.

Randomize Answers

Indicates if the answers should be presented in a random order for each participant.

Auto Complete

Indicates if the question is automatically answered by randomly selecting responses.

Layout

The layout of the possible answers. By default the layout uses one or more columns depending on the number of answers.

Objectives

The point objectives for this question.

Categorical question answers offer the following options:

Answer Text*

The text of the answer.

Group

The group of answers to which this answer belongs to.

Answer Identifier

A short identifier of this question (ex. A, B, C, etc).

Points

The number of points to allocate when this choice is selected. Points must be used in conjunction with survey scores.

Type

The type of this answer. If the answers are randomized or sorted, the "Other" and "Not Applicable" choices will appear at the bottom of the list of choices.

Other: indicates this an "other" type of choice. 

Other - Specify: indicates this an "other" type of choice which requires the participant to enter details in the comments.

Not Applicable: indicates this a "not applicable" type of choice.

Heading

Indicates if this entry is a heading and cannot be selected as a choice. Headings can be used to group choices in different categories.

Skip Logic

The conditions to determine if this choice is available for selection by participants. You can dynamically show or hide choices based on answers to previous questions.
